A commentor on reddit made the following observation.
Men without families have no incentive to be productive beyond what it takes to support their own wants and needs. Men with families are much more likely to produce up to their maximum output because those extra resources go to benefit his children. Prior to DNA testing, the best way to ensure paternity and thus keep men working hard for their children was wedding them to faithful, virgin brides and enforcing the marriage contract.
If marriage was natural, we wouldn’t need to put enormous social pressure on men and women to do it. But you know what else isn’t natural? Civilization, built on the backs of men who were working for the betterment of children they could be reasonably sure they had fathered. That is why monogamous marriage has been a foundational element of every successful civilized society the world has ever known.
Now, we’re seeing how things play out when this long standing social norm is perverted to serve only the female imperative. Men are saying “Fuck that shit” and refuse to “man up” and produce. And why should they? There is no incentive to work hard to provide for a family when the wife can kick you out of the house you own, keep the kids, fuck her lover in your bed, and then demand you continue to pay for all of it or go to jail.
Take away the incentive for men to produce, take away lower status men’s guarantee of a life time sexual partner and keep them incels through their 20’s, and suddenly you have an enormous underclass of men who either don’t care about society or actively seek its destruction. Coercion, shame and appeals to “man up” fall on uncaring ears, and our society slips into a downward spiral leading to imminent ruin and failure.
And they all lived happily ever after.
